Jacqueline´s videos are based on her residency (Takt kunstprojektraum) stay in Berlin during the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall in 2009.

1. Blocked off.          5:05 min                      2009  -  Revision 2011

A man lands on a block in a landscape. At first he stays isolated in this continuous expanding environment, but in the end he manages to escape the suffocating landscape of concrete blocks.

(inspired by the design of The Holocaust Memorial -Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe- in Berlin)

2. Walled in. 3:59 min            2009  -  Revision 2011

A man and his shadow are having a physical and emotional dialogue with a wall; exploring, fighting, observing both the wall and each other.

(inspired by the history of The Berlin Wall 1961-1989. The video contains footage from two sites with remnants of The Berlin Wall)

3. Trapped in the city.     1:56 min              2011

A man is crawling around a spiderweb, searching for a way out, but in the end he is absorbed by it.

LASTCALL, is a personal project as well as an open project which was born as a reflection of many hours spent at airports waiting to fly out. It is a reflection about the use of the new public spaces. LastCall analyzes how limitis between public and private space disappear in an airport terminal, using the photo language.

Letzter Aufruf: Hong Kong edition 2012.

You can find more information on: LastCall

November 2011 LastCall travelled to Berlin to give us some views from inside two airports, both of them near disappeared: Tegel and Schönefeld. LastCall - Letzter Aufruf, was opened last 27th November in Takt Berlin (Grünberger Str. 1 - 10243 - Berlin).

1a Space is pleased to invite you to the opening cocktail reception of Destination Berlin.

Destination Berlin is a group exhibition about the search for individual and collective identity through the work of 6 international artists: Jacqueline Kooter, Shirley Wiebe, Susana López F., Thea Jentjens, Wai Kit Lam and Wai Yi Lai, that was created during their shared art residency in the city of Berlin.

This exhibition reveals six individual glances and expressions on the theme of identity, through a common platform: the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of the German city.

We start a journey through their different views and we explore different art techniques from graphite to paint to multimedia art, and we travel to investigate the different faces and interpretations of identity

Participanting artists:
Jacqueline Kooter (Amsterdam); Shirley Wiebe (Canada), Susana Lopez F. (Gijon, Spain), Thea Jetjens (Amsterdam); Wai Kit Lam (Hong Kong), Wa Yi Lai (Hong Kong)

Curated by Susana Lopez F.
